I offer multiple “levels” of editing for a project, depending on your needs. In brief, the different levels of editing are:
- Structural Editing: Big-picture ideas, order of facts or events, plot or character arcs. Planning or organizing the document in broad strokes. Also called “document development”.
- Stylistic Editing: Developing a style or feel for the piece, nailing down the “vibe” of scenes or segments. Creating or maintaining a consistent vocabulary.
- Copy Editing: Fine grammar and usage details, typos and technicalities, fact-checking.
Both the length of a document and the degree of work needed will determine the cost for an edit. I specialize in working with shorter documents such as website copy, newsletters, short fiction, etc.
I also offer editing services for transformative fiction of any length at a reduced rate. Please contact me to discuss your project!
